Maritime Procurement Manager
A non-profit organization is transforming its global procurement processes. It is building a professional, strategic procurement organization focused on category management, collaboration, and long-term value. As a Maritime Technical Procurement Manager, you will play a crucial role in this.
As one of the first category leads within this new structure, you will have the unique opportunity not only to lead the maritime procurement category but also to contribute to the setup and further development of procurement within the organization. You will help determine the course for the future of procurement while directly contributing to the deployability of the hospital ships and the mission to bring hope and healing.
To do this, you will regularly travel to the hospital ships and other organizational locations.
What you will do.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for technical, maritime, and nautical goods and services.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate price, quality, delivery times, and contract terms in collaboration with technical buyers.
- Manage the entire maritime procurement category and optimize products, processes, and costs.
- Support technical teams on board with complex procurement issues and urgent requests.
- Coordinate deliveries with ships and logistics partners worldwide in collaboration with the logistics department.
- Monitor budgets, analyze expenditures, and contribute to cost control within marine operations.
- Identify improvement opportunities and work on further professionalization of procurement processes, systems, and reporting.
- Provide daily leadership to the maritime procurement team and encourage collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement within the team.
What they ask
- HBO (higher professional education) working and thinking level, preferably in Industrial Engineering, Maritime Technology, Supply Chain Management, Procurement Management, or a similar field.
- Several years of experience in a leadership role within technical procurement, category management, or supply chain management.
- Experience with supplier management, contract negotiations, and strategic sourcing.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Financial insight and experience with budgets and cost control.
- Good communication skills and easily switch between different stakeholders.
- Proficient in Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing.
- Willingness to travel internationally several times a year.
- Experience within the maritime sector is a strong plus.
