LVB Counselor

At a residential location, 19 residents are housed, and three additional residents receive outpatient support. The residents are of various ages and all have a mild intellectual disability (LVB). Some have additional issues, such as autism or attachment problems. Although their intellectual disability is not always immediately visible from the outside and they can be verbally strong, they function at a much lower socio-emotional level, leading to them being easily overestimated.

Your role is essential to ensure that residents feel seen, understood, and heard. You will work in a safe, open, diverse, and friendly team where there is ample room for your input.

What you will do. The residents are eager to learn and face challenges. Someone with an LVB wants to maintain as much self-direction as possible, but at the same time needs support and frameworks. The challenge is to observe carefully and find the right balance in guidance. As a counselor, you support them with daily tasks that are not self-evident for them, such as cleaning a room. You create a plan together with the resident and support them with its execution.

In addition to daily care, you will be the personal counselor for 3 or 4 residents. You manage everything related to these residents, such as maintaining their files, organizing plan discussions, scheduling doctor's visits, and arranging holidays and outings.
