An international engineering and construction group is seeking an HSE Manager for a large-scale construction project. You will work alongside the Project Manager and the site management team, with a large number of subcontractors on site simultaneously.
What you do
- Driving safety on a multi-contractor site
- Deploy and enforce the project HSE plan across all site activities and trades
- Carry out daily site walks and formal inspections, record findings and follow actions through to close-out
- Run site inductions for all new operatives and subcontractors
- Lead toolbox talks, LMRAs and safety campaigns adapted to the project phase
- Controlling high-risk activities
- Review and approve subcontractor RAMS before works start
- Manage the permit-to-work system (hot works, work at height, confined spaces, lifting operations)
- Monitor electrical safety and LOTO procedures during MEP installation and energisation phases
- Check that site set-up, welfare facilities and hazardous substance storage meet required standards
- Regulatory compliance
- Ensure the site operates in line with local regulations and the project V&G plan
- Verify subcontractor HSE compliance (VCA certification, qualifications, site access requirements)
- Act as the HSE point of contact during inspections and audits
- Incident management and reporting
- Lead or support incident and near-miss investigations, root cause analysis and close-out reports
- Report HSE performance (KPIs, trends, action plans) to the Project Director and group HSE leadership
Profile
- Proven experience as HSE Manager or Senior HSE Advisor on construction sites, ideally on data centre, industrial or MEP-intensive projects
- Recognised HSE certification (NEBOSH, VCA-VOL or equivalent)
- Fluent English; Dutch is a strong plus
- Experience managing HSE across multiple subcontractors on a single site
- Assertive and visible on site, able to stop unsafe work and hold contractors accountable
