As a building inspector, you are responsible for independently supervising and enforcing environmental permits, carrying out control, inspection, and compliance with environmental law-related legislation and regulations, granting exemptions, and, if necessary, deploying and applying enforcement instruments. You deal with conflicting interests and make the right decisions in achieving results, particularly in the area of enforcement and safety.
In addition, you will work with colleagues from the VTH team on the prioritization matrix.
What you will do.
- Exercise supervision and assess works for which construction-technical (environmental) permits have been issued
- Check establishments for requirements from building, fire, and safety regulations
- Supervise compliance with decisions, supervise the use of buildings and land
- Enforce relevant regulations
- Assess reports, complaints, and requests for enforcement
- Detect illegal construction
- Deploy enforcement instruments
- Ensure structural and operational safety in emergencies
- Conduct investigations
- Check for completeness
- Organize / guide consultations with the applicant (pre-consultation)
- Monitor the process, integrity, and progress of the application
- Engage specialized disciplines and, if necessary, external parties
- Submit requests for advice to the VTH advisors and the permits team

- Candidate can provide a Certificate of Conduct (not older than 3 months)
- Completed education at a minimum of HBO level (higher professional education)
- Recent experience as a building inspector at a public organization
- Experience working within a (politically administrative/municipal) organization
- In possession of a B driving license and a car

- Recent experience with checking whether executed works comply with the permit and legislation
- Experience working with the CLO application or comparable systems
