An expertise center for people with visual impairments is looking for an occupational therapist. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of dedicated healthcare professionals to help clients reach their full potential. With training and courses from the internal academy and guidance from colleagues, you will quickly become proficient in this field. Working with clients with visual impairments forms the general basis, but working with the adult target group also occurs.
Occupational therapists with experience in neurology and adults are also invited to apply. An affinity with the Child & Youth target group is a must.
What you do
As an occupational therapist, you will primarily work with children from 6 years old. You will help them and their environment find practical solutions for daily challenges.
- Investigate and clarify the client's request for help
- Develop a rehabilitation plan and discuss it with the client and parents/caregivers
- Perform treatments, working closely with the client, parents, and other professionals such as orthoptists, behavioral scientists, and social workers
- Work individually and organize group activities and treatment groups
- Provide advice and information to parents, schools, and other stakeholders
- Maintain contact with institutions such as rehabilitation centers and other healthcare professionals
- Your work area is diverse: you will work at clients' homes, at school, and on location.
What they ask
- A completed HBO (higher professional education) degree in Occupational Therapy
- Affinity with Child & Youth; experience in this area is a plus but not a requirement
- Interest in neurological conditions and possibly experience in this area
- A social, committed, and flexible attitude
- Creativity to devise solutions and take initiative
- A driving license and car for outpatient work
- Willingness to specialize in visual problems through internal training and guidance
