A sector organization represents and defends businesses and entrepreneurs across the entire HoReCa sector. The organization aims to evolve its structure, strengthen its presence in the field, and better meet the expectations of its members. In this context, it is seeking a General Manager capable of driving this new dynamic. The role involves developing the organization, seizing new opportunities, and actively promoting the sector's interests, in addition to daily management.

What you do

  • Be close to the field
  • Maintain regular contact with businesses and entrepreneurs to understand their concerns and needs.
  • Ensure that the organization's positions and actions remain directly aligned with their realities.
  • Develop tools to regularly gather expectations, difficulties, and proposals from members and businesses in the sector.
  • Ensure this information concretely informs the organization's priorities, positions, and actions.
  • Develop regular and structured collaboration with provincial associations.
  • Ensure effective feedback of sector concerns, coordinate actions, and strengthen the organization's presence in different provinces.
  • Collaborate with professional associations and other partners related to HoReCa.
  • Be attentive to the diversity of trades, territories, and business models within the sector.
  • Defend and represent the sector
  • Convey the sector's concerns and proposals to political leaders, administrations, social partners, and other relevant bodies at regional, community, and federal levels.
  • Also represent the organization to the media, economic actors, and other professional federations.
  • Maintain regular relations with sector organizations from other Regions and at the European level.
  • Be able to transform field realities into clear, documented, and defensible positions.
  • Define and pilot the organization's communication strategy, in coordination with the President and governance bodies.
  • Ensure regular and consistent communication with members, HoReCa businesses, provincial associations, public authorities, partners, and the media.
  • Develop the organization
  • Contribute to the organization's development, strengthening its representativeness, and expanding its membership.
  • Enhance the organization's visibility and attractiveness to businesses in the sector, by highlighting its services, achieved results, and actions taken.
  • Ensure the retention of existing members, attract new ones, and offer services that concretely meet their needs.
  • Identify partnerships, projects, and funding sources likely to strengthen the organization's means of action.
  • Also be attentive to the diversification of its revenues and its long-term viability.
  • This approach is part of an entrepreneurial logic: identify needs, seize opportunities, take initiatives, and measure results.
  • Ensure employer representation in social dialogue
  • Prepare and defend employer positions, participate in negotiations, and ensure follow-up of dossiers concerning the sector.
  • Understand the main legal and regulatory issues, be able to assess their consequences for businesses, and mobilize necessary expertise.
  • Lead the team and ensure daily management
  • Supervise a team of approximately seven collaborators.
  • Set priorities, distribute responsibilities, and ensure a clear, motivating, and empowering work environment.
  • Ensure the administrative, financial, and operational management of the organization.
  • Prepare budgets, monitor cash flow and results, and regularly report to the executive bureau and the administrative body.
  • Commit the organization within the limits of budgets and delegated powers, and exercise necessary signing rights.
  • Also ensure proper follow-up of subsidized projects, adherence to commitments, and rigorous use of available resources.

Profile

  • Knowledge and experience
  • Concrete knowledge of the HoReCa sector is essential (having worked in it, held responsibilities, or been significantly involved in a business, federation, association, or organization close to the sector).
  • Confirmed experience in a management, representation, or business development role.
  • Comfortable with figures, budgets, and financial monitoring.
  • Ability to seek funding, build partnerships, and develop new projects.
  • A good understanding of Belgian institutional functioning, social dialogue, and relations between employers and trade union organizations is necessary (practical experience in these matters is a significant advantage).
  • Skills
  • Communicate easily, both in writing and orally, and be able to express oneself credibly before entrepreneurs, political leaders, social partners, or journalists.
  • Knowledge of Dutch is an important asset, particularly for monitoring federal dossiers and relations with sector organizations from other Regions.
  • Personal qualities
  • Close to the field and attentive to entrepreneurs.
  • Able to unite stakeholders with sometimes different interests.
  • Entrepreneurial, autonomous, and results-oriented.
  • Comfortable in managing a team and an organization.
  • Able to defend a position with conviction, while remaining open to dialogue.
  • Rigorous in following up on dossiers and finances.
  • Credible in contacts with authorities, social partners, and the media.
  • Integrity and respectful of the role of governance bodies.

Practical

  • The position can be exercised under employee status or as part of an independent management agreement.
  • The terms will be defined taking into account the nature of the collaboration and the applicable legal framework.
  • For an employee engagement, the organization offers conditions commensurate with the level of responsibility, including extra-legal benefits and a company car.
  • For an independent management agreement, the terms of the mission and fees will be specified.
