Sociocultural Mediator in Archaeology
A cultural organization is active on an archaeological site and conducts archaeological research while developing the cultural, educational, and tourist valorization of the site.
What you do
In close collaboration with the coordinator, the team, and the administrative body, you design, coordinate, and animate cultural, educational, and tourist mediation activities for the organization. You participate in developing the reception of various audiences and creating new heritage valorization projects. You also contribute to seeking partnerships with other cultural or tourist institutions and funding.
Missions and responsibilities.
- Contribute to and implement the mediation policy of the archaeological site and actions for various audiences (schoolchildren, after-school care, families, adolescents, young children, people with disabilities and social sector, adults)
- Documentary research for the development of visits and animation workshops
- Conduct guided tours of the site for all audiences
- On-site and external animation for associations, seniors, or as part of specific cultural events
- Participate in organizing on-site/external conferences with the scientific team
- Welcoming schoolchildren: developing mediations (animations) and guided tours on demand for a school audience (from kindergarten to secondary, even higher education); possible variations depending on teachers' pedagogical projects
- Developing and managing schedules for various activities in agreement with the coordinator
- Designing and animating educational workshops around archaeology, Gallo-Roman history, and heritage for school (kindergarten, primary, and secondary) and non-school audiences (guided tours, birthdays, internships, and holiday activities, etc.)
- Designing and conducting workshops for audiences with specific needs (vulnerable audiences, people with disabilities)
- Participating in various cultural events organized by the organization or its partners
- Managing registrations, educational materials, and logistical needs related to animations (planning, monitoring material and furniture needs for workshop operation, tidying and routine maintenance of educational materials...)
- Producing educational tools (fact sheets, dossiers, animation materials) for projects, exhibitions, and animations
- Research and design: participating in the development and implementation of innovative mediation projects
- Creating content for event communication materials and encoding on partner communication portals and via email to tourist structures
- Contributing to the newsletter, Facebook page, Instagram, mailing, and updating the organization's website and the organization's liaison bulletin
- Writing promotional articles and press releases
- Participating in meetings/exchanges with the team, the organization, project partners, funding authorities
- Participating in writing activity reports and calls for projects (attendance statistics, presentation of pedagogical and cultural results, etc.)
- Various administrative tasks related to the mission
- Participating, as needed, in archaeological excavation activities and other site valorization actions in consultation with the team.
Profile
- You have been a job seeker for 4 months (APE conditions)
- You hold a diploma or significant experience for the position in the fields of archaeology, history, heritage, cultural mediation, sociocultural animation
- You are familiar with the institutional environment, cultural, and educational policies aimed at the public
- You have significant experience in managing educational projects in a similar sector
- You work autonomously, with rigor, motivation, and efficiency, but you also demonstrate teamwork skills, both internally and with external partners
- You have a strong interest in archaeology, heritage, and the development of a tourist site
- You master pedagogical techniques and methods
- You are proficient in English or Dutch, and possibly another foreign language such as German
- You know how to be friendly and courteous in welcoming and informing the public
- You have a good command of computer tools and social networks.
