Corrosion Engineer

As a Corrosion Engineer, you are responsible for the preparation, execution, and follow-up of line and equipment inspections. You assess the condition of process equipment and piping, determine the severity of corrosion, and translate inspection results into clear actions and reports. You work closely with maintenance, production, fabrication, and specialized NDT partners.
What you will do.
- You collect and evaluate the inspection history of the assigned inspection scope.
- You perform visual pre-inspections and help determine which activities need to be carried out by the maintenance department.
- You draw up inspection plans and perform inspections according to predefined protocols and effectiveness requirements.
- You assess the severity of corrosion and make decisions regarding derusting, painting, and/or repairs.
- You perform internal and external visual checks on lines and equipment, supplemented with additional research where necessary. Inspections may also take place at height.
- You guide NDT personnel and evaluate the results of non-destructive testing.
- You evaluate, report, and process inspection findings and measurement results in systems such as SAP, CREDO, and RBI software.
- You conduct pressure tests and visual final acceptances, and follow up on repair work from a QA/QC perspective.
- You maintain close contacts with maintenance and fabrication work planners, the control room, and other involved technical disciplines.
- You always work according to applicable safety rules and actively contribute to the safe execution of the work.
Profile
- You hold a Master's degree in Industrial Sciences – Chemistry.
- You have relevant experience with inspection of process equipment and process piping within an industrial process environment:
- basic knowledge of construction and inspection codes, norms, specifications, standards, and construction materials for process equipment and process piping.
- basic knowledge of non-destructive and destructive testing techniques, supplemented with knowledge of specialized inspection techniques.
- basic knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, detection techniques, research methods, and Fitness for Service calculations.
- basic knowledge of QA/QC
- thorough knowledge of Risk-Based Inspection (RBI).
- You are familiar with technical documentation such as P&IDs, isometric plans, plot plans, and technical data sheets.
- You work proficiently with MS Office, including Word and Excel, and are familiar with applications such as CREDO, SAP, Teams, and Outlook.
- You communicate fluently, orally and in writing, in Dutch and English.
