As a Senior Mechanical Engineer Offshore/Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will guide the mechanical engineering of offshore wind farms, CO2 storage systems, and upgrades of existing installations. You will translate project goals into technical requirements, lead multidisciplinary teams, and ensure safety, sustainability, and efficiency.
The technical core of your role involves designing, specifying, and optimizing pumps, compressors, and HVAC systems in demanding offshore environments, with full responsibility for compliance with safety and environmental regulations and measurable efficiency gains on platforms and installations. You will work at a multidisciplinary engineering firm active in offshore & energy, industry, and infrastructure.
The organization links mechanical engineering with offshore engineering for, among other things, offshore wind farms and CO2 storage. You will collaborate with specialists from various disciplines on complex projects. Knowledge development receives significant attention through internal training, knowledge sessions, and mentoring junior engineers.
What you do
- Lead the design process and review drawings, specifications, and tenders for complex mechanical systems
- Manage design teams for modeling in AutoCAD and 3D, focusing on offshore installations and energy production
- Analyze, validate, and test designs for errors, risks, and compliance with (international) safety standards and protocols
- Specify equipment and prepare and evaluate technical specifications and datasheets for selected materials and systems
- Coach drafters and designers and optimize technical execution within multidisciplinary teams
- Ensure system reliability in offshore environments and advise on maintenance and repair strategies
- Solve complex technical problems and initiate efficiency improvements for offshore wind farms and CO2 storage systems
- Oversee compliance with safety and environmental regulations and implement best practices for sustainable systems
- Translate project goals into concrete technical requirements and communicate them clearly with internal and external stakeholders
- Guide the implementation of pumps, compressors, and HVAC systems in challenging offshore environments
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in all project phases and achieve efficiency gains on platforms and installations
What they ask
- Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in mechanical engineering, demonstrably as a lead/senior engineer in offshore projects
- Higher education diploma or BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Excellent command of Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead technical teams
- Ability to convince clients based on technical concepts and solutions
- Strong analytical skills and experience in solving complex technical issues
- Extensive experience in drafting, evaluating, and communicating technical specifications and guiding multidisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of relevant offshore standards (e.g., NORSOK, DNV, ISO) is a plus
