Data Governance Manager

Support corporate projects and Product Managers of an organization in the application and implementation of Data Governance requirements and data-related Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs).

  • Ensure that governance, compliance, risk, and data management aspects are considered throughout the entire lifecycle of projects and products.

What you will do.

  • Organize and lead intake sessions with project teams and Product Managers to identify applicable Data Governance requirements and data-related NFRs.
  • Advise projects and products on governance requirements related to privacy, retention periods, data classification, data ownership, data quality, data exchange, metadata management, AI Governance, and other relevant governance domains.
  • Facilitate workshops to assess governance risks, identify involved data assets, and determine required governance activities.
  • Guide stakeholders in preparing documentation, evidence, and governance artifacts required by Legal, DPO, Security, Compliance, Data Governance, and other relevant control functions.
  • Coordinate follow-up with project teams and Product Managers to ensure that resulting actions and remediation plans are clearly assigned, tracked, and executed.
  • Monitor and report on the implementation of Data Governance requirements and data-related NFRs within supported initiatives, with visibility into outstanding actions, risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Identify recurring governance gaps, bottlenecks, and control deficiencies, and contribute to the continuous improvement of methodologies, standards, templates, controls, and guidelines.
  • Support the maintenance and further development of relevant governance assets, workflows, and metadata within a specific data management platform.
  • Prepare management reports, dashboards, and governance insights to support prioritization and decision-making.
  • Act as a point of contact between project teams, Product Managers, Legal, DPO, Security, Architecture, Compliance, and Data Governance stakeholders.

Profile

  • Master's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Approximately five years of relevant experience in Data Governance, Privacy, Information Management, Business Analysis, Architecture, Process Management, Risk Management, or a related domain.
  • Proven experience supporting projects, products, or transformation initiatives within a corporate environment.
  • Good knowledge of Data Governance principles, data-related NFRs, and the data lifecycle.
  • Practical experience with a data management platform; a certification is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of privacy, data management, information security, risk, and compliance principles.
  • Ability to translate governance requirements into pragmatic and concrete guidelines for project and product teams.
  • Experience with governance reporting, documentation, action tracking, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
  • Business-oriented and data-driven, with the ability to link governance requirements to business objectives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, combining assertiveness with respect.
  • Analytical, pragmatic, constructive, and solution-oriented.
  • Independent, efficient, and well-organized, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Collaborative, service-oriented, resilient, and persistent in bringing actions to a successful conclusion.
  • Fluent English; Dutch is a plus.
