Compulsory Education Officer

A government organization is looking for an experienced compulsory education officer for the Compulsory Education/Transition Point team. The deployment is due to illness/maternity leave replacement and focuses on handling and continuing existing compulsory education and absenteeism cases. The team collaborates with schools, young people and parents/guardians, youth care, and other involved chain partners. The activities are embedded in the client's organization.

The contractor participates in regular work meetings, reports to a supervisor, and works in a team.

What you do

  • Investigate and handle reports of school absenteeism
  • Conduct interviews with young people, parents/guardians, schools, and other involved parties
  • Independently handle assigned complex compulsory education and absenteeism cases
  • Assess unauthorized school absenteeism and determine and implement appropriate follow-up steps
  • Perform activities in the field of supervision and enforcement of the Compulsory Education Act
  • Draw up Halt official reports and official reports, if the case warrants it
  • Handle appeals for exemptions
  • Guide and handle cases of (imminent) home-schoolers
  • Maintain contacts and collaborate with schools, youth care, and other relevant chain partners
  • Register and maintain cases in JVS
  • Participate in relevant work and case meetings for execution
  • Answer substantive questions from starting colleagues where necessary

What they ask

  • Demonstrable work experience with supervision and enforcement of the Compulsory Education Act, including assessing unauthorized school absenteeism and implementing appropriate follow-up steps
  • Demonstrable work experience with the guidance and approach of (imminent) home-schoolers
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrable work experience in the past 8 years as a compulsory education officer within a government organization
  • Demonstrable work experience with independently handling complex compulsory education and absenteeism cases, including conducting interviews with young people, parents/guardians

Preferences.

  • Demonstrable work experience with independently handling complex compulsory education and absenteeism cases
  • Demonstrable work experience with enforcement of the Compulsory Education Act and implementing and handling appropriate enforcement measures
  • Demonstrable work experience in the past 2 years with the JVS system
  • Demonstrable work experience with handling absenteeism reports, drawing up Halt Official Reports and/or Official Reports, and handling appeals for exemptions
  • Demonstrable completed education at a minimum HBO bachelor level, in the direction of social work, Social Pedagogical Assistance (SPH), Social Work and Services (MWD) or comparable
  • Demonstrable work experience with collaboration around compulsory education and school absenteeism, including with schools, youth care, and other relevant chain partners
