You will work with defense and security policy in a dynamic and exciting international environment. This position is as a Deputy Defense Advisor and Deputy Head at an international representation.
What you do
- You will work on defense policy matters within the framework of an international alliance, in synergy with defense advisors at a European Union body.
- You will independently cover meetings within your areas of work and negotiate with other allies on behalf of the country.
- You will work on the country's defense policy priorities, primarily through negotiations in the alliance's specialized committees.
- You will establish networks and disseminate information to representatives of other countries and national authorities.
- You will assist the head in leading the defense advisors at the alliance and participate in the representation's management team.
Profile
- You are an academic or officer with completed advanced leadership training (e.g., Master in Military Studies or equivalent foreign education).
- We emphasize that you have in-depth knowledge of the ministerial area, including significant insight into political processes from work in a Ministry of Defense department, and leadership experience.
- You also have a good knowledge of defense and security policy.
- You can establish an overview of several complicated case areas, including advising and guiding employees and colleagues.
- You can contribute to the development of employees through sparring and constructive feedback on products and negotiation processes.
- You are well-articulated in writing and speaking in both Danish and English, including being able to communicate extensive or complicated matters briefly and concisely.
- You can use your expertise to translate complicated issues into political courses of action.
- You are analytically sharp and have an eye for opportunities rather than limitations.
- You understand how to view a case from multiple sides.
- You are outgoing and good at creating networks.
- As a person, you possess a great deal of independence, while understanding the value of acting as a team player.
- The management of the position places significant demands on your flexibility, both in terms of short deadlines and diverse tasks, but also in relation to the organization of your work.
- The work culture at the alliance's headquarters places high demands on your presence. Everyday life is characterized by many meetings that often extend beyond normal working hours.
- One of your most important qualifications is your holistic view, where you manage to integrate the group's development into the work for your area of responsibility.
Practical
- The position is advertised for both civilian and military applicants.
- For Civilian Applicants: You will be employed as a special consultant or chief consultant in accordance with the applicable collective agreement, with potential for additional allowances based on experience and qualifications, and an employer-funded pension scheme.
- For Military Applicants: The position is placed in salary group 5 (e.g., majors/captains), with potential for individual allowances.
- For Both Civilian and Military Applicants: You will be stationed under the current expatriation allowance scheme, meaning your relocation and housing expenses will be paid, and you will receive a tax-free expatriation allowance.
- You have the opportunity to bring your family; there are good job opportunities for spouses in the location.
- Prior to taking up the position, you must meet the following prerequisites:
- Passed the national defense's physical basic requirements.
- Medically approved for 'suitable C' status and medium load (health and teeth).
- Passed an English language test (SLP 3-3-3-3) at a national Defense Academy.
- Security cleared to COSMIC TOP SECRET/CTS, and able to maintain this throughout the employment period.
