Technical talent wanted! Become a trainee dockmaster at a shipyard and grow into a dockmaster. You will play a key role in docking and undocking ships. Safety, teamwork, and growth are central!
What you do
As a trainee dockmaster, you will play an important role in docking and undocking ships. Together with an experienced dockmaster, you will ensure safe, efficient, and smooth operations on the dock and related maintenance.
- Participate in the preparations and execution of docking and undocking ships
- Receive training to eventually independently, under your own leadership and responsibility, dry-dock and launch ships
- Perform maintenance of the dock installation
- Monitor the dock and the ship during the dry-docking period
- Be flexible to dock and undock ships outside regular working hours
- Maintain good contact with colleagues, the ship's crew
- Make the right decisions regarding safety
Profile
- Involved, flexible
- Willingness to work overtime if necessary
- Safety is always paramount
- Technical and/or maritime background (e.g., tug service, helmsman, or mechanic)
- Proactive attitude and enthusiasm for shipbuilding
- Eagerness and curiosity to learn this profession
- (To be developed) leadership skills
- Technical insight and willingness to learn from experienced colleagues
- Good collaboration and communication skills in Dutch and English
