A youth care organization is looking for a group counselor for young people aged 14 to 19 who are temporarily unable to live at home.
- The young people receive help to stabilize their situation and work on learning goals appropriate to their perspective.
- This may involve working on relationships with their parents to return home, or developing skills to live more independently.
- You will work according to a 24-hour schedule, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
What you do
- Provide a homely environment and support to young people.
- Help with daily tasks such as homework and cooking, to forming and maintaining friendships.
- Encourage young people to achieve personal goals, set by the mentor in consultation.
- Act as a role model and ensure that the young person experiences safety and proximity and develops from there.
- Observe, stimulate, and support young people in group settings and individually.
- Act appropriately towards the young person: first connection, then correction.
- Act clearly in situations where tensions rise, improvising interventions if necessary.
- Perform light financial, household, and administrative tasks.
What they ask for.
- Minimum MBO level 4 diploma.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a pedagogical staff member in a youth care facility.
- Creativity and a proactive attitude.
- Experience with competency-based work, connecting authority, and/or non-violent resistance.
- Knowledge and insight into group dynamic processes.
- Strong personality and social skills.
- Affinity with the mission and values of the organization.
Practical
- Gross monthly salary according to youth care collective labor agreement (scale 7) from € 3021.90 to € 4318.74, depending on knowledge and experience.
- 25 vacation days.
- 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus of the gross annual salary.
