IT Security Officer

A European diplomatic service is looking for an IT Security Officer. The organization implements the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy and promotes peace, prosperity, and security worldwide. The Digital Solutions division supports the organization and its worldwide network of delegations with modern Information and Communication Technology tools. The multifaceted division is organized into four sectors: Governance & Policies, DevSecOPS & IT Operations, Cyber Security, and Network Security.

What you do

  • Manage and maintain IT systems and infrastructure related to secure communication, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
  • Deal with sensitive operational activities of the secure communication system, manage secure components, and carry out administrative activities
  • Assist with the distribution and staging of IT equipment
  • Provide ad-hoc assistance to end-users, offering technical support and troubleshooting guidance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address IT-related challenges and requirements
  • Initiate and follow projects
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in IT security and secure communication technologies
  • Document processes, procedures, and system configurations, draft operational procedures and work instructions
  • Support IT Operations and Helpdesk as level 3 support in the context of secure communication related incidents/problems
  • Act as a service owner on a list of IT services, lead on resolutions and further development
  • Proactively manage the lifecycle and drive the direction of the services responsible for
  • Supervise the operational activities of external contractors
  • Perform contract management, including negotiating, ordering

What they ask

  • Completed university studies of at least three years attested by a diploma
  • The capacity to work in the languages of the Common Foreign and Security Policy and external relations (English and French)
  • Be a national of one of the Member States of the European Union and enjoy full rights as a citizen
  • Strong drafting and analytical skills combined with sound judgment
  • The ability to communicate clearly on complex issues and the capacity to perform with accuracy and in a flexible manner a diversity of tasks in a complex institutional environment
  • A strong service attitude and a flexible team player
  • Relevant education and domain expertise proven by at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Proven experience in IT operations, with a focus on security and secure communication systems including data centers, endpoint, and network hardware components
  • Strong knowledge of networking principles, protocols, hardware
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001)
  • Experience related to the operational aspects of secure systems handling
  • Overall understanding of secure IT infrastructure design principles
  • Good level of understanding of IT security standards, rules, procedures related to systems handling confidential information
  • Professional experience in at least four or more of the following domains:
  • Virtualization (Nutanix, VMware)
  • Hyperconverge technology (Nutanix, VMware vSAN)
  • Specific security technologies
  • Specific cybersecurity solutions
  • Splunk
  • Storage (SAN, NAS, CIFS)
  • OS management (Windows 2012/2016/2019, Linux, Redhat, CentOs)
  • Active Directory, GPO's, Identity and Access Management
  • Databases & reporting (MS-SQL, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • SCCM, SCOM
  • Scripting (PowerShell, Python, Perl, other)
  • (Mobile) telephony and smartphones
  • Unified Communications products
  • VDI technology
  • Containerization technology (Kubernetes, VMware Tanzu)
  • Automation (VMware Aria)
  • Experience of working in a team in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment
  • Experience in working with or within other EU institutions
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CompTIA Security+, SANS) will be considered strong assets

Practical

  • A high level of security clearance (SECRET UE/EU SECRET) is required
  • The candidate must hold a valid Personnel Security Clearance or be in a position to obtain one from the competent authority of the Member State
