You will work closer to IT than a classic Business Analyst: you will take business needs, turn them into a functional solution, and specify how applications, APIs and data should behave so squads can build and test.
What you do
- Functional analysis and solution design — UI, business logic, data, integrations
- High-level and detailed flow diagrams (process, sequence, end-to-end)
- Three Amigos with the development team (and testers) before build
- API and service-contract specification, aligned with architecture and design governance
- Enterprise data modelling (EDM) — conceptual and logical models that fit the organization's data landscape
- Implementable specs with Java / Spring delivery teams (functional counterpart, not the coder by default)
- Follow-through: functional integration testing, implementation, production support where needed
- Where relevant: COBOL (e.g. Micro Focus) on insurance / legacy platforms; event-driven design (Kafka); API
What they ask
- French or Dutch and English at a professional level (required — mandate-specific which one)
- Senior / Expert functional analysis experience (~5–8+ years; expert tracks often ~+7 in domain)
- Proven banking or insurance work in Belgium (or transferable regulated financial services)
- Structured functional design: specs, high-level and detailed flow diagrams, traceability
- Three Amigos with the development team (and testers) — not a document-only FA
- APIs and integrations; architecture and design governance (reviews, standards, committees)
- Enterprise / conceptual data modelling (EDM); SQL for design and investigation
- Comfortable with Java / Spring application landscapes
- COBOL and/or Kafka a plus — mandate-specific, not required on every seat
- Clear communication with business, architects and squads
- Comfort with a hybrid work environment
- Agile / Scrum common
- Structured, analytical, independent on the organization's site
- IT / Engineering / Economics degree typical; Archimate / IREB a plus
