Integration & Architect

LimburgHybridHours negotiable<3months

An organization is looking for an Integration & AI Architect for a strategic hybrid role. You will guide enterprise integration strategies and architectures, and help shape the AI architecture and governance frameworks. The focus is on a 50/50 split: robust and secure integration of complex systems, and the development of AI governance, architectural patterns, and frameworks for responsible and scalable AI deployment.

This role requires architectural responsibility and strategic leadership, with a focus on standards, frameworks, and technological enablement. It is an ideal opportunity for an architect who enjoys working across different domains and helps internal teams build connected, intelligent systems, supported by strong governance, clear guidelines, and a clear strategic vision.

What you will do.

  • Develop and define enterprise integration strategies that connect applications, data, and business processes across both cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Design scalable integration architectures and reference architectures that enable systems to communicate seamlessly via API-led connectivity, event-driven architectures, messaging solutions, and iPaaS platforms.
  • Choose the most suitable integration approach (REST APIs, message queues, streaming, or B2B integrations), tailored to business needs, focusing on secure, efficient, and future-proof integrations.
  • Lead the selection and architectural governance of integration platforms, such as API management solutions and Enterprise Service Bus platforms.
  • Define standards, architectural patterns, and best practices to ensure consistent implementation across projects.
  • Promote observability, lifecycle management, and reliable operational processes for integration solutions.
  • Ensure that integration architecture aligns with security, compliance, and performance requirements.
  • Shape the enterprise AI architecture and co-determine the strategic roadmap for AI adoption within the organization.
  • Develop reference architectures, reusable patterns, and decision frameworks that guide the deployment of AI solutions (machine learning models and AI agents) for concrete business challenges.
  • Develop robust governance frameworks and guidelines for responsible and secure AI and machine learning initiatives.
  • Define policies and guardrails for the full lifecycle of AI models and AI agents, including evaluation, deployment, versioning, monitoring, feedback mechanisms, and decommissioning.
  • Focus on AI ethics, risk management, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and thought leader within the organization.
  • Collaborate with architects, integration specialists, data scientists, and business stakeholders for cross-domain alignment.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear guidelines and build support for architectural decisions.

Profile

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a role such as Integration Architect, Solution Architect, Software Architect, or a senior engineering function with clear architectural responsibilities.
  • Good knowledge of integration architectures and patterns (APIs, messaging, event-driven integration, and microservices) and insight into their application within enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with enterprise integration platforms and cloud-based integration concepts.
  • Ability to weigh different solutions, define standards, and assess the long-term impact of architectural decisions.
  • Strong interest in AI architecture, AI governance, and responsible AI.
  • Good basic knowledge of AI and machine learning concepts, AI risks, ethical and compliance-related issues, and the importance of architectural guidelines, patterns, and decision frameworks.
  • Ability to think architecturally and structurally, finding a balance between long-term vision, pragmatism, and business value.
  • Smooth collaboration with various stakeholders and clear communication of architectural choices to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Eager to learn mindset: actively build knowledge around emerging domains such as AI governance, modernization of integration landscapes, and enterprise architecture.
  • Proactive attitude and strong sense of initiative.
  • Fluent communication in Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Required studies: Bachelor; Master.
