As a physician for intellectually disabled persons (Arts VG), you are the medical specialist for clients with both visual and intellectual disabilities, often combined with hearing problems or physical challenges. You work within a healthcare organization in a close-knit multidisciplinary environment and are given the freedom to apply your specialized expertise autonomously. The focus is on complex, specialized cases, not on daily medical care.
What you will do.
- Medical-specialist consultation and co-treatment for complex cases, at the request of the nursing specialist or general practitioner
- Assessment and treatment of complex behavioral problems and underlying psychopathology, including advice on psychopharmaceuticals
- Function as a Wzd (Care and Coercion Act) official for complex cases
- Issuance of medical certificates (RM/IBS) and execution of legal tasks exclusively assigned to the Arts VG
- Actively participate in multidisciplinary consultations and contribute to integrated treatment plans
- Coordination with the nursing specialist and general practitioner regarding task distribution and consultation moments, in accordance with the task reallocation framework
- Provide medical input for rehabilitation, guidance, and LACCS plans for complex cases
- Contribute to policy, quality, and professional development within the treatment team
- Annually determine your own substantive focus areas (e.g., psychopharmacology, behavior, palliative care)
