Corporate Spokesperson

A public educational institution is looking for an experienced and proactive corporate spokesperson to strengthen its press team. You will be part of an an enthusiastic team and co-responsible for the media strategy and positioning of the organization.

What you do

  • (Further) develop and implement the media strategy, together with a colleague.
  • Distribute ongoing dossiers.
  • Advise the Executive Board, including on decision-making regarding complex or politically sensitive topics.
  • Proactively pitch news stories to the media.
  • Collaborate with science communicators, the web team, communication colleagues (e.g., from various faculties), and, where it concerns policy influencers, with colleagues from Public Affairs and issue/environmental management.
  • Regularly consult with the management and the Executive Board and advise on communicative, publicity, and administrative aspects.
  • Respond proactively to opportunities and trends, in addition to daily hectic activities.
  • Structurally contribute to strategic communication around various projects and current themes.
  • Provide media training to the organization's employees.

Profile

  • Experienced professional with extensive experience in corporate and/or executive board spokesperson roles.
  • Networker and connector with a nose for news and a well-developed sense of political-administrative and societal relations.
  • Strong and decisive advisor and sparring partner for the Executive Board, management, team members, and other colleagues.
  • Able to adapt the organization and planning of work to a dynamic environment.
  • Capable of delving into content to build broad knowledge on relevant issues.
  • Networking and collaboration are natural; quickly finds and connects the right people inside and outside the organization.
  • Up-to-date with recent developments in the communication field and able to translate them into daily practice.
  • Knows the media landscape inside out and considers it important to maintain and proactively provide news to their media network.

What they ask

  • At least five years of demonstrable experience as a spokesperson for executive/board and senior management, preferably in a public-oriented organization.
  • Demonstrable experience with spokesperson duties and advising/supporting executives during media appearances at a national level (newspaper, radio, current affairs programs) and a broad media network.
  • Extensive experience with coordinating various communication activities (incl. media requests).
  • Extensive experience with media monitoring and analysis.
  • A broad background as a communication professional and highly experienced in external communication.
  • Sensitivity to and demonstrable experience with political-administrative sensitivity.
  • Excellent spoken and written proficiency in Dutch and English.
  • Possesses the following competencies: organizational sensitivity, analysis, persuasiveness, networking, environmental awareness, planning and organizing, creativity.
