HR Business Partner

North BrabantHybrid36 hours/week<3months

You are at the forefront of your HR field when it comes to the development of organizations and people. You establish a vision and approach for L&D that moves with the growth ambition and goes beyond a training calendar. Our business is “human resources intensive,” which means we want to go further in establishing a robust organization. You are a sparring partner for managers at home and abroad and encourage effective collaboration throughout the organization.

Due to the rapid international growth of our organization, organizational, leadership, and personal development of employees and managers is necessary. This is your great task to set up and execute as the first HR Business Partner within our organization. You build this role from the ground up and report to the HR Director. The HR team also consists of 2 ambitious HR supporters and a senior corporate Recruiter.

Working for a growing internationally operating family business in the field of temporary water infrastructures, for both drinking water and wastewater for temporary large projects. Together with 140 colleagues worldwide, 70 of whom are at the head office, you work and contribute to large, appealing projects in the industry, expo, and event sector.

What you do

As an HR business partner, you are responsible for the implementation of sound, well-running HR processes, systems, and team collaboration throughout the organization. You are a business partner for department managers at the head office as well as at branches in 10 different countries worldwide. Together with the HR Director, you guide ambitious HR colleagues in developing their HR and advisory skills. Your tasks also include:

  • Ensuring that all international HR issues are addressed. You understand (or quickly learn to understand) the operational and legal differences between countries (labor law, terms of employment, employee participation) and ensure that local implementation is correct, without each country reinventing the wheel. As the organization grows, you will also manage HR suppliers in other countries in the future.
  • An optimal HR climate with appropriate terms of employment that are correct in practice.
  • You signal to the HR Director when an issue is larger than an HR solution.
  • You execute HR projects yourself and with stakeholders, where collaboration and joint problem-solving are key skills.
  • You ensure smoothly running HR processes, HR systems, and effectively functioning Teams.
  • Leadership development with programs as a lever for a growing organization.
  • Retention policy. You investigate and address why people leave. Not with a satisfaction survey as an endpoint, but by asking about underlying causes in job content, structure, and leadership.
  • You guide, coach, and advise Managers at the head office and in foreign branches.

For the organizational structure itself and the larger design issues, you work closely with the HR Director. We challenge you to think out-of-the-box and come up with new initiatives in an environment without an extensive HR structure, where you know how to organize effective collaboration and find it natural to quickly master things and gain knowledge of international labor relations.

You actively think about how the HR function and the organization grow with new subsidiaries, and ensure that growth does not lead to ad-hoc solutions per country.

What they ask

  • You have experience as an HR advisor or HR business partner in an international organization.
  • You have seen how to scale HR across multiple countries and entities.
  • You are a discussion partner for MT members with good coaching skills.
  • You fit into a hands-on, pragmatic environment with a no-nonsense family culture.
  • You have self-confidence and are used to self-reflection.
  • You have a vision on organizational and leadership development.
  • You are proficient in communicating in Dutch and English.
  • You are willing to work at the office with 1 day of remote work.

We are looking for someone who understands the organization as a system: who sees when a problem is actually about how work is divided, how a team is structured, or how decision-making proceeds, and distinguishes that from a problem that can be solved with a good conversation, training, or an adjusted process.

Practical

  • A one-year contract with the prospect of permanent employment.
  • A travel allowance (for more than 10 km one-way commute).
  • A pension scheme and a bonus scheme for permanent employment.
  • 8% holiday pay and 30 vacation days.
  • Own development opportunities and you develop junior HR employees.
  • Collaboration, coaching, guidance, co-building and professionalization & much autonomy and freedom to excel and build together with the HR Director.
