An ambitious and dynamic group of eye clinics with branches spread across Flanders. For an eye clinic in Edegem, we are looking for an enthusiastic and independent orthoptist to strengthen our team. You will primarily work with pediatric ophthalmologists, specialized in pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus, and myopia management. Additionally, you will support orthoptic consultations for adults.
What you will do.
- Perform orthoptic examinations in children and adults
- Examination and follow-up of strabismus (squint)
- Examination of eye movement disorders and double vision (diplopia)
- Determine monocular and binocular visual functions
- Perform cover tests, prism measurements, and motility examinations
- Diagnosis and follow-up of amblyopia (lazy eye)
- Guide occlusion therapy and other orthoptic treatments
- Support pediatric ophthalmology consultations
- Guide and inform parents about treatment and follow-up
- Support the myopia management trajectory in children and adolescents
- Orthoptic screening and follow-up in adult patients with ocular muscle abnormalities
- Prepare patients for consultations and potential strabismus surgery
- Register examination findings in the electronic patient file
- Actively collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare providers within the clinic
- Contribute to quality and patient-centered care delivery
Profile
- A diploma in Orthoptics or Orthoptics-Optometry with a strong affinity for orthoptics
- Experience in pediatric ophthalmology and/or strabology is a major asset
- An independent contractor status
- Strong communication skills in Dutch
