An educational institution is actively developing its education and research in a specific region. This presents opportunities to strengthen the connection between science and society.
- As a knowledge broker, you ensure that questions and needs from society are translated into education and research within a faculty.
- Together with a community connector, you form the link between the region and the faculty, ensuring that both the societal and academic aspects of collaborations align well and that projects are strong in content and socially relevant.
- The community connector gathers daily questions and needs from the local community. You use your academic background to translate these into research and education, such as student projects, exam questions, or research proposals.
- You constantly seek the right balance between social relevance and academic quality.
- At the start of the role, the focus is primarily on further developing challenge courses within a new bachelor's program. You look for projects where students collaborate with local organizations and translate these into appropriate learning outcomes and a solid curriculum.
What you do
- You translate questions and needs from society into promising participatory and/or demand-driven research and education within the faculty, for example, in the form of student projects, research proposals, or exam questions.
- You develop and coordinate challenge courses within the bachelor's program and monitor educational quality.
- You actively maintain contact with faculty lecturers and researchers and proactively inform them about opportunities and needs within the local ecosystem.
- You are the point of contact for the educational institution's community connector regarding the academic involvement of the faculty.
- You co-develop and deliver educational modules and training sessions where students and staff learn skills for socially engaged work.
What they ask
- Academically trained: completed doctoral research in a beta or technical discipline and experience in teaching and/or curriculum development. Willingness to obtain a BKO (teaching qualification) within two years of starting.
- A pioneer at heart: energized by a new role where not everything is fixed yet and able to shape the position independently.
- Curious and a good listener: open to new forms of research and education and skilled at listening to what others need.
- Strong in Dutch and English: possesses excellent language skills in both languages and can smoothly switch between different stakeholders and contexts.
- Experience (asset): with accreditations and other forms of quality assurance, acquiring research grants or working in research consortia, participatory research or education, and an affinity with the region.
