Project Manager

As a project manager, you translate diverse operational needs into concrete plans and clear functional requirements. Your talent will be utilized for various issues within a defense organization. Within a department focused on assortment and inventory management, you will deal with projects ranging from the acquisition of equipment for units in arctic conditions to the maintenance of operational horses or large-scale battery systems for the entire organization.

You ensure that functional needs are converted into a clear Program of Requirements (PoR) and a strict material plan in which maintenance, logistics, and management are laid down in clear standards. You create overview and structure in a dynamic environment, thus ensuring that these land-based articles remain optimally deployable across the organization.

What you do

  • Act as project leader for assigned projects and tenders.
  • Draw up clear project plans, manage the project team, and monitor progress in terms of Product, Time, and Money.
  • Report periodically to the cluster manager and client.
  • Be responsible for the standard-setting aspect within assortment management for your portfolio.
  • Determine and document maintenance and supply regulations and record them in the material plan.
  • Periodically evaluate with users and maintainers whether the provided availability still optimally matches needs and is realized at the lowest operating costs.
  • Adjust standardization or budget where necessary.
  • Advise demanders on drawing up functional article requirements, translate these into a Program of Requirements (PoR), and assess their financial and technical feasibility.
  • Maintain close contact with purchasing advisors, internal logistics specialists, and representatives of the (inter)national industry during contract negotiations and the maintenance phase.

What they ask

  • Completed HBO or WO education, preferably in Industrial Engineering and Management or a comparable logistics-technical field of study.
  • Preferably practical experience in both the business sector and within the government.
  • Energized by a dynamic portfolio and able to switch effortlessly between completely different product groups.
  • A natural drive to quickly and thoroughly delve into entirely new subject matter.
  • The ability to quickly identify the common thread within a wide diversity of projects, always monitoring the larger process and standard-setting frameworks.
  • Strong organizational skills, proficient in planning and organizing, and adopting a results-oriented and organization-focused approach.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in Dutch and English. German is a plus.

Practical

  • A security screening (VGB) is part of the application process.
  • Dutch nationality is required.
  • Providing a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is a condition for appointment.
  • A background check, including criminal record and financial matters, which takes an average of 8 weeks, may be part of the selection procedure.
