Disability Care Worker

South HollandOn site26 hours/week<3months

Do you want to work in a place where people live their lives as independently as possible, but know that you are there when needed? Then you will probably quickly feel at home at two residential locations. Here, you guide adults with an intellectual disability towards as much independence, trust, and self-direction as possible. You guide adults with an intellectual disability (ID) and mild intellectual disability (MID) who largely live independently in their own apartments.

You work from the Active Support vision: doing things together where possible, taking over only when truly necessary. You work independently, but you are never alone. Together with a dedicated team, you ensure that every client feels seen, heard, and safe. You will work at two residential locations. One location consists of twelve apartments where guidance also includes sleep shifts.

The other location consists of sixteen independent apartments around a cozy support point where residents meet for coffee, a shared meal, or an activity. Many residents have a job or attend day activities. As a result, your work shifts throughout the day: from individual guidance moments to group activities in the evening. Together, both locations form an enthusiastic team of thirteen colleagues who work closely together and support each other.

Working at these locations means working in a place where independence is central. Here you get the space to truly build a bond with residents. Because everyone has their own apartment, you literally come into people's homes. This allows you to get to know residents well and offer guidance that truly fits their lives. In addition, these locations offer a lot of variety:

  • two different residential locations within one team
  • a nice combination of individual guidance and group moments
  • plenty of room for personal responsibility
  • working with a diverse target group within disability care
  • a team where humor, collaboration, and trust are important

What you do

  • guiding daily routines such as household chores, administration, and personal planning
  • supporting social contacts, leisure activities, and social participation
  • stimulating independence and personal choices
  • signaling changes in behavior or well-being and responding to them
  • working according to individual support plans
  • reporting in the electronic client file (ECF)
  • together with colleagues, ensuring a safe, pleasant, and predictable living environment

Profile

You enjoy guiding people towards more independence. You are clear, calm, and able to switch well between different guidance questions. In addition, you have:

  • a completed MBO level 3 or 4 education in Care & Welfare (e.g., MMZ, SPW, or Verzorgende IG)
  • affinity with adults with an intellectual disability
  • a positive, coaching guidance style
  • the ability to work independently and collaborate well
  • willingness to work irregular shifts, weekends, and – at one of the locations – sleep shifts
  • experience with or interest in working according to Active Support

If you don't have much experience in disability care yet, but you have the right diploma and the motivation to learn? We would still like to get to know you.
