Project Manager Grid Congestion

As a project manager with a focus on grid congestion, you are responsible for the preparation and execution of complex projects in the field of energy infrastructure. You will work on projects that are prerequisite for the further development and sustainability of an urban environment. You will collaborate closely with an internal program, your official client, municipal departments, a grid operator, and other involved parties.

You will organize municipal efforts, bring together interests and dependencies, and manage progress, planning, risks, and decision-making.

What you will do.

  • Lead your own project team with experts from all necessary disciplines.
  • Prepare and guide complex projects related to the expansion of the electricity grid from initiation to implementation.
  • Prepare, draft, and submit administrative decisions to the College of Mayors and Aldermen and ultimately the Municipal Council.
  • Create support among residents, administrators, and collaboration partners.
  • Monitor progress, identify opportunities and risks, and proactively manage them.
  • Guide tender and contract procedures in collaboration with specialists.
  • Ensure clear decision-making within a governance triangle involving an alderman or director and an official client.
  • Provide thorough outlooks and timely reports.
  • Work with colleagues on continuous quality improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with a utility company and other related stakeholders.
  • Become a guiding partner in the realization of the energy transition.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the municipal working method for large energy infrastructure projects.
  • Be a true connector with an overview: you smoothly switch between technology, spatial development, process, and people, and maintain course, even when interests diverge.

Profile

  • Relevant HBO or university education and academic working and thinking level.
  • Demonstrable experience with project or process management in complex public space assignments, preferably in the field of cables and pipelines or energy infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of the structure and operation of electricity grids (medium/low voltage and preferably also high voltage level).
  • Sufficient technical insight to liaise with grid operators and specialists on topics such as routes, stations, space occupation, safety, phasing, and feasibility.
  • Knowledge of transition management and its applicability to an overarching task.
  • Knowledge of parallel spatial planning to achieve the necessary acceleration in large energy projects.
  • Knowledge of urban development, real estate, or area projects.
  • Experience with participation processes and a sense of administrative relations.
  • Persuasiveness, decisiveness, and an energetic, results-oriented attitude.
  • Experience within a government organization is a plus, but more importantly, you are firm in your shoes and enjoy working on projects that matter.
  • You are able to create and maintain urgency, even when interests diverge.
  • You have a practical approach: you quickly switch between strategy and execution.
