Youth Protector
As a youth protector, you provide assistance to families facing problems with the upbringing of their child(ren), following a child protection measure. You take responsibility for the child's safety and engage in discussions with the family. You have a coordinating role and ensure the child's safety with the help of appropriate assistance. You consult frequently with involved parties and professionals and report to the court. The work atmosphere is informal, and you receive ample support from your colleagues.
Important decisions regarding families are discussed in multidisciplinary consultations.
What you will do.
- Conduct home visits to the various families for whom you are responsible
- Attend court hearings concerning the safety situation of the child or children within the families concerned
- Visit involved schools, aid organizations, and foster families
- Initiate specialized assistance when necessary
- Monitor the progress of families during the implementation of assistance
- Report to the court on the progress of your clients during the period of youth protection intervention
What they ask
- A completed HBO or WO degree that allows for SKJ registration (e.g., Social Work, MWD, SPH, Pedagogy, Orthopedagogy, or Psychology)
- An SKJ registration (or the possibility to register)
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience within youth care
- Knowledge of laws and regulations regarding youth protection, both in a voluntary and judicial context
- Knowledge of and insight into the problems of the target group

- You support parents in shaping the upbringing and development of their children in a good way themselves
- You activate and strengthen the possibilities and skills of parents and children, utilizing their social network
- You implement appropriate (specialized) assistance through third parties and collaborate with local institutions, schools, and designated youth care services
- You recognize signals and can deal with them adequately to eliminate insecurity and developmental threats to the child
