Urban Planner

South HollandHybrid34 hours/week<3months

A government organization is looking for an enthusiastic and creative junior urban planner. You will work in a city full of contrasts and great ambitions, from an international center to coastal areas, but also with vulnerable neighborhoods that require extra attention. The Urban Planning & Spatial Planning department is the driving force behind the city's future, connecting short-term developments with a strong long-term perspective.

Within a team, you will work on challenging area developments, where densification, liveability, and smart interventions in public space go hand in hand.

What you will do. As a junior urban planner, you will work on concrete issues at various scale levels. Your task package is versatile:

  • You translate structural visions into concrete plans and draw up area programs.
  • You develop building envelopes and preconditions, and assess applications for out-of-plan environmental plan activities.
  • You bring in innovative ideas and help shape the city with a fresh perspective.

You will be given space to work independently and take responsibility, while always being able to rely on the knowledge of an experienced, collegial team. This way, you will quickly develop within all phases of area development and directly contribute to the future of the city.

What they ask As a junior urban planner, you bring a healthy dose of curiosity and relevant professional knowledge, both in terms of content and process. You see the dynamics and complexity of an ambitious city with limited space as an opportunity for your own development.

  • You are resilient, can switch quickly, and have a natural antenna for, or strong interest in, an administrative-political environment.
  • You are a strong communicator in Dutch (both verbally and in writing) and enjoy giving and receiving feedback.
  • You collaborate smoothly with colleagues and stakeholders, but are equally capable of achieving concrete results independently.

Profile

  • Completed university education, such as a study in Urban Planning at a Technical University or a Master's at the Academy of Architecture.
  • Registration in the Architects' Register as an urban planner or willingness to complete the professional experience period (BEP/PEP).
  • Demonstrable experience with software such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign, Autocad, GIS, MicroStation, and Sketchup.
  • Demonstrably excellent professional knowledge and skills, evidenced by a strong portfolio or good study results.
