A public educational institution therefore invests in strong support for researchers in the field of Research Data Management (RDM). To strengthen the further development and strategic embedding of RDM, the institution is looking for an RDM coordinator. In this role, you develop, update, and monitor the institution-wide policy on Research Data Management.
You translate strategic objectives into concrete implementation, improvement, and change trajectories, processes, services, and research infrastructure, ensuring that researchers are optimally supported throughout the entire lifecycle of their research data. At the same time, you play a central role in the collaboration between researchers, faculties, support services, and external partners. You are part of a directorate and report to the head of the library.
Additionally, you functionally lead a team of data stewards.
What you will do.
- You develop, update, and monitor the institution-wide policy on Research Data Management.
- You develop a strategic roadmap for the further development of research data management.
- You translate policy objectives into concrete implementation, improvement, and change trajectories.
- You functionally lead the team of data stewards: you help determine content priorities, distribute assignments, monitor quality, and support their further professional development.
- You ensure qualitative and integrated service provision for researchers, including advice, training, support for data management plans, and information provision.
- You act as a central point of contact for complex issues concerning FAIR Data, data governance, Open Science, privacy, ethics, and regulations.
- You coordinate collaboration between various internal partners, including the library, ICT, research coordination, the Data Protection Officer, the Tech Transfer Office, ethical committees, faculties, research institutes, and other relevant stakeholders.
- You initiate and lead strategic and multidisciplinary projects on research data management and digital research infrastructures.
- You develop and monitor indicators and follow-up mechanisms for the implementation and maturity of Research Data Management and report on this to management and policy bodies.
- You represent the institution in Flemish, federal, and international networks and collaborations concerning Research Data Management and Open Science.
What they ask
- Master's degree. A doctorate or relevant experience within a research environment is a significant asset.
- Thorough knowledge and 5 years of relevant experience with Research Data Management across the entire research data lifecycle, including FAIR principles, Open Science, metadata, sustainable archiving, and digital research infrastructures.
- Insight into the research data lifecycle, research policy, and the requirements of research funders.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations and legal and ethical aspects of research data management, including GDPR and research integrity.
- Experience with policy development and with leading projects, improvement trajectories, and/or organization-wide change trajectories.
- Good insight into the functioning of an institution of research and experience in connecting different perspectives and interests within a complex organization.
- Strong communication skills in Dutch and English.

Practical
- Appointment as Administrative and Technical Staff and remuneration according to class 4 (grade 8).
