A collective research & technology center for the Belgian technological industry is looking for a Test Technician-Operator for a climate chamber. The organization is active in multidisciplinary research, development, and innovation projects, with a focus on industrial (offshore) wind energy. They support R&D projects aimed at reducing the cost of wind energy and strengthening the Belgian industrial value chain.
This includes setting up advanced testing infrastructures, such as a large climatic test chamber where components are tested under harsh conditions.
What you do
- Responsible for the daily operations of machines and equipment.
- Guarantee optimal execution of test campaigns by controlling and operating the large climate chamber.
- Ensure the quality of operations through order, cleanliness, and safety in the lab.
- Control and monitor the climate chamber during tests.
- Organize the lab layout and test infrastructure.
- Execute and report test campaigns, in collaboration with colleagues.
- Develop and set up complex electro-mechanical test set-ups in the climatic test lab.
- Organize and execute the loading and unloading of test objects.
- Assemble/disassemble test set-ups.
- Calibrate sensors & test-infrastructure (selecting sensors, calibrating them, and connecting them to the data acquisition system).
- Analyze and interpret test results.
- Execute daily maintenance actions of the test lab infrastructure (climate chamber, test benches, DAQ, and sensor set-ups) in collaboration with a colleague.
- Execute administrative tasks: inventory management, registering visitors, placing and following up orders.

- A degree in a technical field such as electro-mechanics or electricity.
- Good technical common sense and a solid foundation in electro-mechanics.
- Knowledge of sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
- High sense of risk awareness and ability to manage risks (electrical risks BA4-BA5, high voltage).
- CAD skills.
- Good analytical skills for analyzing test requirements and customer requests.
- Hands-on and flexible attitude.
- Quality-oriented and good organizational skills.
- Communicative (contact with customers and partners).
- Good basic computer skills.
- Fluent in Dutch and English (oral and written).
