As a Missionary Worker, you build a community where people meet, can discover the Christian faith, and feel seen and welcome. You are a trusted face of a social organization in the region. You create accessible opportunities to discover, experience, and grow in the Christian faith. You know what is happening in the neighborhood and translate this, together with volunteers, local residents, churches, and social organizations, into activities and new initiatives.
You also offer pastoral guidance and visibly express the organization's identity.
What you do
- Build a faith community where people feel welcome and involved.
- Guide people with questions about faith and meaning, and offer pastoral support.
- Organize and lead celebrations, meetings, and missionary activities.
- Recruit, guide, and equip volunteers and local staff.
- Seek connection with local residents, churches, and social organizations.
- Identify what is happening in the neighborhood and translate this into appropriate activities and new initiatives.
- Monitor the quality and progress of activities and projects.
Profile
- Minimum HBO (higher professional education) work and thinking level, preferably a completed degree in Theology, Religious Pastoral Work (GPW), or a comparable education.
- Strong in connecting people, takes initiative, and knows how to translate what is happening in the neighborhood into appropriate activities and collaborations.
- Affinity with pastoral care and faith development.
- Able to guide, inspire, and equip volunteers and local staff.
- Works independently and flexibly.
- Willing to work evenings and weekends and, in consultation, be deployed at other locations within the region.
- You are a Christian (Protestant, Catholic, etc.) and can articulate what that means to you.
