As a residential counselor, you guide and support participants towards self-reliance within a protected living facility. The focus is on providing structure, safety, and stabilization for residents with a diagnosed psychiatric illness, often combined with addiction, problematic debts, and/or a lack of daily activities. A personal plan is drawn up with the client to work on recovery, including meaningful daily activities.
The guidance aims to promote and maintain skills, social participation, and the restoration of human dignity. You will join a committed, stable, and enthusiastic team, consisting of personal counselors, nurses, and residential counselors.
What you will do.
- Provide residential guidance within the facility
- Ensure a safe and educational environment, where daily routines are orderly and routine care and guidance are adequately performed
- Identify client needs, so that the client's plan can be drawn up/adjusted based on the collected data
- Encourage clients to participate in groups, work, day activities, and (re)creative activities
- Provide clients with insight into their own behavior and living environment
- Support clients in organizing their daily lives
- Supervise the client's living environment and act as the first point of contact
- Participate in work meetings
- Perform necessary reports, records, and other administrative tasks
Profile
- Completed MBO 4 education in Social Work
- Insight into addiction problems
- Insight into psychological and/or psychiatric illnesses
- Ability to motivate and stimulate clients, focusing on their strengths
- Good oral and written communication skills; preferably knowledge of motivational interviewing and other interview techniques that contribute to a good helping relationship
- A good team player with knowledge of their own strengths and weaknesses
- Willingness to work irregular shifts (day and evening shifts)
- Endorses the Christian mission of the organization and wishes to actively contribute to it
- A positive Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is required
