You contribute to the safe return of young people to society as a forensic youth counselor at a juvenile justice institution. You guide a group of 8 to 10 young people in their daily routine, implement treatment plans, and act as a mentor. You will work in a challenging environment where young people reside due to a criminal justice measure. These young people often have little trust in assistance and guidance, which is noticeable in group dynamics. Your approach focuses on calm, clarity, and respect.
What you do
- Guide a group of young people in their daily routine.
- Implement treatment plans.
- Act as a mentor for 1 or 2 young people, maintaining weekly contact.
- Play an important role in contact with the young person's network.
- Track the progress of mentored young people in periodic reports.
- Report daily on the entire group.
- Provide substantive input for treatment plans.
- Collaborate with 2 colleagues per shift for daily guidance, including accompanying them to lessons, providing moments of fresh air and relaxation.

- HBO diploma in social work, pedagogy, or similar predecessors (sph, mwd), or an EVC certificate for a qualified HBO youth and family professional.
- Preferably relevant experience, gained through internships or volunteer work.
- SKJ registration (if not present, discussion about starting as a group leader or a parallel trajectory to obtain registration).
- Good physical condition.
- Ability to work irregular shifts.

Practical
- Participation in a basic youth training course of 16 consecutive working days after approximately 4 weeks of onboarding.
- Medical examination and submission of a VOG-P (Certificate of Conduct - Police Data) required. Costs are reimbursed.
- The application procedure includes a home test (aptitude test and personality questionnaire), followed by a selection day at a central location (control aptitude test, physical fitness test, interview with a manager and a recruiter, assessment with role-play).
- After a positive outcome, a shadowing day at the location and a job offer discussion will follow.
