A Portfolio Manager is sought for a large investment program within an industrial environment, responsible for the overarching coordination of a portfolio of CAPEX projects. The portfolio currently includes approximately 15 projects, which are in various phases, from concept development to execution. Together, these projects represent a total investment value of approximately €15–20 million.
The projects are strongly interconnected, requiring an experienced professional to oversee the entire portfolio, manage interdependencies, and ensure that the different projects are managed as one cohesive whole.
What you will do. As a Portfolio Manager, you will assume an overarching steering role. You are not responsible for the daily execution of individual projects, but you oversee the whole and ensure coherence, progress, and transparent reporting. Your main responsibilities are:
- Overall management and coordination of the entire project portfolio.
- Monitoring scope, planning, budgets, dependencies, and risks across the various projects.
- Ensuring good alignment between the individual project teams.
- Monitoring decisions and changes within one project and their impact on other projects.
- Identifying, tracking, and addressing issues, risks, and bottlenecks at the portfolio level.
- Coordinating and monitoring the integrated planning of the different projects.
- Following up on internal steering committees and ensuring clear preparation and follow-up of decisions.
- Managing the reporting cycle: individual project managers report to you, after which you consolidate the information and translate it into a clear portfolio overview.
- Reporting on progress, risks, decision points, and major deviations to senior management.
- Serving as a central point of contact for all portfolio-wide topics and ensuring transparent communication between project teams and management.
- Ensuring that the different projects remain aligned and collectively contribute to the set objectives.
Profile
We are looking for a highly experienced Portfolio Manager who is accustomed to coordinating complex, multidisciplinary projects and programs in an industrial environment. You preferably bring:
- Demonstrable experience as a Portfolio Manager or Program Manager.
- Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects and complex project portfolios.
- Strong experience in an industrial, technical, or engineering environment.
- Experience with large investment projects and CAPEX programs is a strong asset.
- Strong skills in planning, scope, risk, and stakeholder management.
- The ability to quickly connect different projects and recognize dependencies.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- You are able to structure complex information and report clearly at management level.
- You are decisive, structured, and strong in monitoring progress and agreements.
- You can constructively challenge and guide different project managers and stakeholders when necessary.
Practical aspects. This is explicitly not a classic project management role where you execute one project from A to Z. You assume an overarching portfolio and steering role and oversee the whole.
