A public organization is looking for a security mobile engineer to maintain the security and resilience of the mobile phone landscape and to elevate the Security Operations Center (SOC) to a higher level. Daily, nearly 70,000 employees rely on their smartphones for exchanging privacy-sensitive information and directing operations. The role is crucial for the further professionalization of security operations and the protection of endpoints against advanced cyber threats, malware, and state-sponsored actors.
What you will do.
- Secure and optimize the entire internal mobile endpoint landscape (iOS and Android).
- Contribute to building and developing software and scripts for proactive phone monitoring and collecting security data.
- Develop, test, and improve specific detection rules and use cases for mobile phones.
- Investigate and analyze mobile malware and conduct in-depth technical analyses following (potential) mobile security incidents.
- Advise, research, and monitor mobile environments.
- Be actively involved in developing and implementing solutions for the mobile environment.
- Contribute to internal monitoring software for custom solutions to detect and mitigate anomalous behavior early.
- Perform first responder duties (on average once every four weeks) and be willing to work outside office hours during major cyber incidents.

- Demonstrable experience with technical management and/or securing mobile platforms (iOS and Android).
- Experience with scripting and software development (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash, or API integrations).
- Knowledge of or experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools.
- Analytical skills and a strong interest in researching new mobile threats and attack techniques.
- Good command of the Dutch and English languages.
- Successfully completed multiple relevant cybersecurity courses and/or training, and willing to continue expanding knowledge.
- Experience in stimulating and motivating colleagues and coaching less experienced colleagues.
- Experience in maintaining contacts with external parties, both within and outside the government.
Profile
You will be the strategic and technical linchpin that keeps the mobile phone landscape secure. You will work closely with other teams focused on mobile telephony and mobile services to collectively deploy knowledge, expertise, and security.
