As a physician in an Appeals and Objections department, you will work with fellow physicians, occupational experts, and legal professionals within a results-oriented team.
- The first year is largely dedicated to an internal basic training in insurance medicine.
- You will work under the supervision of an occupational health specialist.
- Time is allocated for clients to reach a well-considered judgment.
- In this first year, there is also room to further develop your advisory and communication skills and to motivate decisions.
- After successfully completing the basic training, it will be jointly determined whether the specialization will be continued.
- The work-life balance is good, with regular office hours and the possibility of partially working from home.
- You will report to the manager of the department.
What you do
- Responsible for re-evaluating the assessment in which the physician in the primary process has expressed their view on the client's capacity for work.
- Handling medical aspects of objection and (higher) appeal cases within relevant legislation and jurisprudence, taking into account the social context.
- Determining the medical condition, weighing various factors, and providing reasoned arguments on whether the capacity for work has been correctly established.
- Providing a re-evaluation of the medical aspects of the primary decision for objection, appeal, and higher appeal cases.
- Providing feedback/advice to physicians in the primary process to improve the quality of decisions.
- Under the supervision of the occupational health specialist for Appeals and Objections, being responsible for the medical part of the decision-making.

- Academic medical degree and a medical examination successfully completed and recognized in the Netherlands.
- BIG-registered.
- Involved with clients and passionate about the profession.
- Motivated to (further) learn social security regulations.
- Able to weigh existing and new information and draw conclusions based on available information.
- Possess persuasiveness and decisiveness.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Able to adapt your communication style to the situation.
- Preferably, experience in the field of insurance medicine, or demonstrable interest evidenced by, for example, an elective clerkship.

- When a client files an objection or appeal, the previously made decision is re-evaluated by looking at the client's situation again.
- Together, we ensure that clients know where they stand and receive what they are entitled to.
- Ultimately, the goal is to reach a solution that makes the client feel seen, heard, and helped.
- Approximately 1,300 employees in the Appeals and Objections department collaborate in multidisciplinary teams on (complex) objection and appeal procedures.
