An experienced Security Engineer with a focus on database security is sought for a leading organization. In this role, you will contribute to strengthening the security of critical database platforms in both on-premises and cloud environments. You will ensure that access, encryption, monitoring, and data processes are set up and managed according to secure-by-design principles.
What you do
- Hardening SQL, NoSQL, and cloud-native database platforms
- Implementing security standards, configuration guidelines, patching, and lifecycle management
- Performing risk analyses and translating risks into technical measures
- Developing and improving access management based on RBAC, least privilege, and privileged access management
- Integrating IAM processes and cloud security controls
- Setting up secure processes around service accounts, secrets, and key management
- Implementing and optimizing encryption for data-at-rest and data-in-transit
- Establishing logging, auditing, and monitoring mechanisms for database activities
- Integrating database telemetry with SIEM and SOC solutions
- Integrating security into CI/CD processes, provisioning, backup, and recovery processes
- Advising on secure data flows, data classification, and data minimization
- Supporting platform teams and DBAs in securely onboarding databases and workloads
- Collaborating with DBAs, platform teams, security specialists, and cloud architects
- Communicating risks, impact, and recommended security measures to various stakeholders
Profile
- Extensive experience with database security in both on-premises and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, and/or GCP)
- Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL platforms, database architecture, and data security principles
- Experience with encryption, key management, auditing, monitoring, and incident response within database environments
- Thorough knowledge of IAM, privilege management, and secure-by-design engineering
- Experience with SIEM, logging, and monitoring solutions
- Knowledge of cloud security controls and security of cloud-native databases
- Ability to analyze complex data processes and translate them into robust security solutions
- Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proactive attitude and focus on continuous security improvement
