Audience Mediation Officer
A cultural organization is looking for an audience mediation officer for a fixed term. The organization is an international performing arts festival focusing on contemporary theater and dance, performance, and visual arts. For three weeks, the festival invites local and international artists who question our relationship with the world. They present challenging artistic creations at cultural venues and in public spaces.
What you will do. As an audience engagement officer, you will work closely with the head of audience engagement and an intern. You will support efforts to connect various groups and audiences with the festival and its artists.
- Co-develop coherent audience mediation for artistic projects, in consultation with the artistic direction.
- Follow up on invitations from social organizations: guide them in choosing performances, welcome them on the evening of the performance, and organize any additional activities (introductions, post-show discussions, meetings with artists or the management).
- Manage ticket reservations for social organizations and other groups in collaboration with the box office team.
- Guide the group of young reviewers during the festival.
- Follow up on educational projects related to learning Dutch or French, in collaboration with partners: plan excursions, give workshops during classes in preparation for cultural outings, and guide groups.
- Coordinate 3 children's workshops for children between 4 and 10 years old in collaboration with external partners.
- Recruit and follow up on local participants for performances requiring participation (e.g., extras).
- During the festival, like all other staff members, you will sometimes assist with public reception and evening ticket sales.
- Coordinate and follow up on performances with sign language: draw up a schedule, maintain contact with the community, the artist(s), and the team of interpreters.
Profile
- Affinity with the social field.
- Motivated to work in an atmosphere of dialogue between French and Dutch speakers.
- Bilingual (French/Dutch) and good knowledge of English.
- Understanding of a pedagogical and/or community-building approach.
- Flexible and available for evening and weekend work before and during the festival.
- Sense of responsibility, proactive, and enjoys working in a team.
- Comfortable in front of a group, public speaking does not deter you.
- Creative and enjoys developing projects and workshops.
- Social and enjoys contact with others.
- Experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm are more important than a diploma.
- The organization is committed to equal opportunities and diversity. For equivalent applications, priority will be given to underrepresented profiles (gender, origin, age...).
Practical
- A pleasant working environment at an international performing arts festival.
- A place in a dynamic team where you can develop yourself.
- A fixed-term contract (due to the periodicity of the festival).
- The possibility to renew the contract the following year, after consultation.
- Remuneration according to the Performing Arts collective labor agreement (category B) with the addition of meal vouchers and a fixed allowance for telephone costs.
- 100% reimbursement of commuting expenses by public transport or bicycle.
