Personal counselor
You make a difference in the lives of people working towards their independence. As a residential counselor, you offer clients the guidance they need to build stability and self-reliance, enabling them to transition to independent living. You contribute to creating a better future.
What you will do. As a residential counselor, you support clients in their daily lives and work towards a safe and healthy living environment. You coordinate tasks related to personal hygiene and creating a safe living environment for residents, such as cleaning rooms, and support residents and personal counselors in this. Together with the personal counselor, you provide input for optimizing the resident's personal plan. Additionally, you report to the care coordinator on progress and signals.
Your main tasks are:
- Inventorying the need for help and contributing to the residential guidance plan
- Guiding clients with practical matters such as household management, finances, and social interactions
- Coordinating daily activities and involving residents in maintaining their living environment
- Collaborating with other care providers and institutions to offer additional support
- Performing administrative tasks and reporting on the progress of the guidance
Profile
- You have an HBO diploma (higher professional education) in Social Work
- Affinity and experience with guiding clients with multi-problem issues, such as psychiatric problems, addiction, or a mild intellectual disability (LVB)
- Good communication and writing skills for drafting reports and plans
- Stress-resistant and flexible, with the ability to respond adequately in crisis situations
- You are willing to work irregular shifts, as working hours are flexible and can vary
About the organization. The organization is there for the most vulnerable in society. Driven by social motivation, it provides assistance to adults and children who need support in the areas of (mental) health, (protected) housing, finances, work, and upbringing.
About the location. The location offers a safe living environment and long-term guidance to homeless participants with psychiatric and/or addiction problems and/or mild intellectual disabilities (LVB). Each resident has a personal counselor and their own room with a bathroom. In addition to developing living skills and strengthening personal and social competencies, the focus is on meaningful daytime activities and working together towards greater self-reliance.
