Extraordinary Investigating Officer (BOA)

You will work as a public space enforcement officer/extraordinary investigating officer (BOA) in a dynamic and professional working environment within a public organization. You will contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, accessible, and attractive city.

What you will do.

  • You will go out (usually with a colleague) on foot, by bicycle, by car, or sometimes by boat.
  • You will be a host/hostess for the people in the city and try to resolve issues as much as possible in good consultation.
  • You will ensure that everyone adheres to the rules and address people if necessary.
  • You will record observations and issue official warnings and fines using a handheld device.
  • You will focus on de-escalation.
  • You are authorized by RTGB (Regulation for the Assessment of Force Management) and have handcuffs, a walkie-talkie, and bodycams.

  • You are resilient, socially skilled, have an active attitude, and are physically fit.
  • You can assess situations well and take the right action in time.
  • You remain calm and act in a de-escalating manner when dealing with angry citizens or aggression.
  • Collaboration with colleagues and other authorities comes naturally to you.
  • You are willing to work in varying shifts:
  • Monday to Saturday: usually from 07:00-15:30 or from 14:30-23:00.
  • Sunday: standard shift from 13:00-21:30.
  • You will work both early and late shifts, sometimes also at night.

What they ask

  • An MBO (vocational education) diploma, level 3 (Enforcement, Supervision, and Safety is a plus).
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience as a public space enforcement officer/extraordinary investigating officer (BOA). Candidates with less work experience are also encouraged to apply for junior positions.
  • A valid BOA domain certificate (preferably RTGB trained).
  • Driving license B.
  • Rich life experience and the ability to tackle complex challenges with insight and wisdom.
