HSEQ Manager
A growing medium-sized Belgian company with international ambitions, specialized in total solutions for industrial electricity, process automation, and energy distribution, is looking for an HSEQ Manager. Their expertise extends from concept and engineering to installation, project management, maintenance, and service. The company combines in-depth technical knowledge with a no-nonsense approach, where safety, reliability, and innovation are central.
With three Belgian entities and a growing team, the organization is expanding its HSEQ department. This is a critical key role within a growing organization, with a mix of operational field support, project management, policy, and coaching.
What you will do. As an HSEQ Lead, you play a crucial, operational, and policy-making role in ensuring a safe and high-quality working environment. This is not a pure office job; you are strongly present on the shop floor (ideally 40% field work) to coach operational teams and managers, without hindering productivity. You are part of a team of various SHEQ professionals and report closely to management.
- You implement and promote the HSEQ policy and support management in drafting and applying procedures, manuals, SHE plans, and policy documents.
- You conduct active visits, audits, risk analyses, and internal controls (1-2 days per week at workplaces and construction sites). You coach employees and managers on-the-spot.
- You analyze incident reports, near misses, and KPIs, and translate these into effective, corrective, and preventive measures.
- You represent the organization during external audits and inspections of, among others, ISO (9001, 14001, 45001) and VCA standards.
- You organize practical training, monthly toolbox meetings, and awareness campaigns around safety, health, and quality.
- You advise operational and management teams on legal requirements, best practices, and practical, workable solutions.
Profile
- You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (Bachelor of Integrated Safety, Master of Safety Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Business Administration) or are equivalent through strong practical experience.
- Legal requirements: You hold a Prevention Advisor Level II or I diploma and ideally have a BA5 certificate (legal access to electrical installations).
- You have strong knowledge of national safety and environmental legislation and are familiar with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and VCA.
- Technical affinity with electrical installations (LV/HV) is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with QHSE management software (Phronesys) is useful.
- You have a hands-on, operational mindset. You respect legal frameworks but always seek pragmatic and workable solutions that support operations rather than blocking them.
- You are a reliable advisor with a strong coaching approach. You effortlessly switch between different levels (from shop floor to management), communicate clearly and convincingly, and bring structure to complex situations.
Offer.
- Flexible collaboration on a project basis.
- Impact & Autonomy: A key role with significant autonomy and entrepreneurship within a fast-growing, future-oriented business where safety and sustainability are truly prioritized.
- A market-conform rate/remuneration in line with your expertise and experience.
- Diversity & Well-being: The organization strongly believes in diversity and equal opportunities, regardless of gender, age, origin, conviction, or disability. They strive for a safe and respectful working environment for everyone.
