Civil Society Fund Transnational Officer
You will be part of a team within an international organization focused on strengthening civil society. This instrument aims to strengthen the capacity, cooperation, and resilience of institutions and civil society to protect and promote democracy, the rule of law, and human rights at a European level. The organization acts as the Fund Operator.
The thematic focus is on civic space and civil society engagement; information integrity and disinformation; and competence and knowledge development for democratic resilience.
What you will do.
- Manage the full grant lifecycle, including following up on grant agreements, work plans, and reporting requirements.
- Organize annual meetings and monitor implementation progress, risks, budgets, and results across the portfolio.
- Coordinate closely with legal, finance, and management colleagues to ensure sound financial management and compliance.
- Oversee the portfolio, ensuring its effective implementation and alignment with the organization's objectives.
- Facilitate synergies between this fund and other relevant initiatives.
- Analyze trends, risks, and opportunities on the thematic focus.
- Assess the relevance and added value of proposed initiatives.
- Support Donor engagement through briefing notes and strategic analysis.
- Represent the organization in meetings with European networks, civil society organizations, think tanks, foundations, and international partners.
Profile
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- At least 6 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in grant management, program, or project management.
- Experience working with civil society organizations, international organizations, public bodies, or European networks.
- Experience in managing complex stakeholder relationships.
- Knowledge of European civil society ecosystems and networks (desired).
- Experience working on democratic governance, civic space, or information integrity (desired).
- Strong project and portfolio management skills.
- Knowledge of grant management, compliance, and financial oversight.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and drafting skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and proactively.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
Practical
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Fluency in any of the Donor or Beneficiary State languages would be an advantage.
- Travel will be required.
