Help teams of a humanitarian organization prepare when emergencies strike. The organization's humanitarian and emergency work requires an array of skills, knowledge, and attitudes that enable the organization to respond quickly, appropriately, and effectively individually, as a team, and as an organization. As the L&D Advisor, you will play a key role in ensuring that the organizational learning solutions are fit for this purpose and that staff are equipped to meet these challenges.
Building on your experience and engagement with multiple stakeholders, you will help develop, shape, and implement the learning strategy for the operational department, with a special focus on learning and development in Access, Security, Humanitarian Affairs, and Operational Management. You will assess and turn learning needs into practical, high-quality agile solutions that strengthen individual, team, and organizational capabilities to manage and respond to emergencies according to their specific specialization.
You will join and be part of a culturally diverse Learning Solutions team, reporting to the Learning Solutions Coordinator.
What you do
Shape the learning agenda.
- Develop and implement learning strategies and solutions aligned with the Operations department priorities and the organization's strategic objectives.
- Act as the primary L&D advisor to the Ops department, helping teams identify capability gaps and determine the most effective learning approaches.
- Conduct rapid learning needs analyses, tailor pathways, and develop relevant learning solutions.
- Promote alignment and coherence across learning initiatives intersectionally within the organization.
Design and deliver impactful learning.
- Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of learning solutions, working with subject matter experts and internal partners.
- Coordinate course delivery, in-country training deployment, and the creation and curation of learning content.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring activities are delivered effectively and meet agreed objectives.
Evaluate, plan and improve.
- Coordinate annual planning, prioritization, and budgeting for learning activities and projects.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of learning solutions, using MEAL approaches to inform future improvements.
- Build strong partnerships across teams to ensure learning initiatives respond to operational realities and evolving needs.
What they ask Required.
- A degree in Learning & Development, Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Humanitarian Studies, or related fields.
- At least 3 years of L&D experience, including advising stakeholders and designing, coordinating, and evaluating learning solutions.
- At least 3 years of operational experience working in a humanitarian context.
- Project management experience, including budget management, planning, stakeholder coordination, and MEAL implementation.
- Experience identifying learning needs and translating them into practical solutions in collaboration with internal experts.
- Fluency in English.
Advantage.
- Knowledge of French, Arabic, and/or another working language of the organization.
- Experience working with technical or operational profiles, such as Emergency Management, Security, Negotiation, MedOps, Logistics, HR, or Supply.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Familiarity with a variety of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) approaches applied to learning interventions.
- Advanced Excel or programming experience.
