You will work for a Roads and Canals department of a provincial government organization. This department is responsible for building and managing provincial roads, waterways, bridges, and locks, and ensures the realization of necessary infrastructure and required maintenance. As an environmental manager, you are the director of the project environment. You will work on complex infrastructural projects with a visible impact on the living environment. You will focus on two road projects requiring major maintenance.
One project involves a partial closure and relocation, requiring land acquisition. The other project is tackled in different phases and has interfaces with dike reinforcement works. Both projects require an environmental manager who maintains an overview, connects interests, and leads, thereby laying the foundation for socially successful realization. The assignment can be filled by one or two candidates and involves a role under supervision with side-by-side activities.
What you do
- Direct all environmental aspects within infrastructural projects
- Develop the environmental strategy and translate it into a concrete approach
- Identify stakeholders and build sustainable relationships with residents, businesses, municipalities, water authorities, network operators, and other partners
- Organize participation and and communication with stakeholders
- Manage permits, spatial planning procedures, cables and pipelines, traffic measures, real estate, archaeology, and other conditioning activities
- Responsible for the process surrounding the Customer Requirements Specification (KES)
- Advise project leaders and IPM teams on opportunities, risks, and administrative sensitivities
- Assess the environmental approach of contractors during tenders and execution
- Ensure that projects are not only technically feasible but also socially achievable

As an environmental manager, you are the director of the project environment for complex infrastructural projects with a visible impact on the living environment. You bring together residents, entrepreneurs, municipalities, emergency services, network operators, and other stakeholders and ensure that the project team has the correct information for decision-making.

- Demonstrably completed education at a minimum of HBO bachelor level
- Minimum 4 years of demonstrable work experience in the past 10 years as an Environmental Manager
Preferences.
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrable work experience in the past 10 years as an environmental manager in the field of infrastructural projects at a government institution or utility company
- Demonstrable work experience with drafting communication and participation plans, stakeholder analyses, and/or customer requirements specifications
- Demonstrable work experience in an Integrated Project Management (IPM) team
- Demonstrable work experience with conditioning, including cables and pipelines, permits, and/or archaeology
