Project Leader

As a project leader, you will contribute to strengthening the meadow bird population. You will translate policy into concrete actions and results, bring together various stakeholders, and monitor progress. The role is versatile, encompassing the organization of regional processes, the development of instruments, coordination with partners, and advising colleagues and management.

You will work within a compact and committed team and have extensive contact with a broad network of parties jointly responsible for the implementation of a nature conservation plan, such as other provinces, the national government, agricultural collectives, water boards, and land management organizations. You will bring together different interests, keep sight of common goals, and ensure that agreements are translated into concrete follow-up steps.

What you will do.

  • Organize and coordinate the implementation of the nature conservation plan within the organization, maintaining an overview of activities and ensuring coherence.
  • Guide regional processes: bring together the right parties, facilitate discussions, and translate agreements and ambitions into a feasible approach for the area.
  • Develop roadmaps per area, in collaboration with involved parties, to define goals, necessary measures, responsibilities, and timelines.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a subsidy scheme for the revaluation of agricultural land for meadow birds, including content and practical feasibility.
  • Monitor agreements and progress within a national framework, identify bottlenecks, and discuss necessary adjustments or additional actions.
  • Participate monthly in national working groups, prepare meetings, contribute organizational input, and help develop joint solutions and products.
  • Contribute to the development of a national subsidy scheme for agricultural lands with natural values, bringing in knowledge and experience.
  • Perform internal policy tasks: act as a key contact, inform colleagues about developments, support with inquiries, contribute to policy documents, and help elaborate instruments and measures.
  • Connect and advise: play a bridging role between policy, implementation, and management, identify opportunities and bottlenecks, and address them constructively.

Profile

  • Experienced and enthusiastic project leader who is energized by societal challenges and by bringing people and organizations together.
  • Demonstrable experience with meadow bird management and knowledge of the field involving farmers, agricultural collectives, land management organizations, water boards, provinces, and the national government.
  • Minimum of two years of recent experience as a policy officer or project leader within the (agricultural) nature sector, accustomed to working on complex issues in rural areas.
  • Experience within a complex governmental organization is a plus.
  • Ability to switch effectively between strategy and implementation, translating policy into a practical approach that works in the field.
  • Experience with drafting, implementing, and/or assessing subsidy schemes.
  • A true connector and networker, easily approaches people, builds relationships, and actively utilizes a network to achieve results.
  • Organizationally sensitive and politically-administratively aware, with a sense for different interests and responsibilities.
  • Strong in organizing and coordinating, maintaining an overview when multiple processes are running simultaneously.
  • Communicatively skilled, able to clearly explain complex subjects to various target groups.
  • Results-oriented and pragmatic: sees what is needed and takes action.
  • Strong analytical skills, able to translate various information and interests into a clear course and concrete follow-up steps.
  • Dares to take initiative but also actively seeks collaboration and knows when coordination or escalation is needed.
  • Holds a university master's degree and possesses sufficient experience and substantive knowledge to work independently.
