In this role, you will play a key part in shaping a future-proof information landscape for the research domain of a large knowledge institution. You will work on two interconnected architectures: one broad for the administrative, supporting, and guiding processes within the research domain, and one specifically focused on research data processing (compute and data management).
You will be given a lot of freedom and responsibility and will work closely with a team of architects, business analysts, information managers, and policy officers from multiple parts of the organization.
What you will do.
- Inventorying interests to be protected, duties of care, laws and regulations, and policy frameworks within the research domain.
- Modeling main processes, information flows, information objects, and ICT systems/applications for both the broad and specific research architecture.
- Building two target architectures (AS-IS → TO-BE) that clarify how organization, policy, processes, information flows, and systems interlock.
- Identifying inefficiencies, gaps, and improvement opportunities in the current information management.
- Drawing up roadmaps and change trajectories to move from the current to the desired situation.
- Advising on standardization and interoperability of ICT systems, so that data and workflows can be efficiently implemented across chains of applications.
- Developing scenarios and clarifying their impact on organization, processes, roles, and information provision.
- Guiding stakeholders in choices between standardization versus customization, and ensuring that historically grown practices are critically reviewed.
Profile
- HBO/WO (higher professional education/university) work and thinking level.
- Demonstrable experience with process modeling and architecture frameworks and standards such as TOGAF, ArchiMate, and BPMN.
- Knowledge of process ownership, data ownership, and system ownership.
- Strong analytical skills: able to structure, harmonize, and standardize complex business processes and information flows.
- Affinity with the research domain and familiarity with relevant codes of conduct and principles such as scientific integrity and Open Science/FAIR.
- Good command of Dutch; knowledge of English is a plus.
- Experience with the drivers, needs, and working methods of researchers and research support staff is a strong plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt communication style to a diverse group of stakeholders are a major plus.
- Experience in translating conflicting interests into clear choices and a widely supported target architecture is a bonus.
