To replace a sick employee, a government organization is looking for a truancy officer/transition coach. The activities are an integral part of regular business operations and are carried out within the existing organizational structure. The employee is part of the team, participates in internal meetings, and works under the daily guidance of the responsible manager. Priorities, activities, and desired results are determined by the organization.
Due to the importance of continuity, knowledge retention, and close cooperation with internal stakeholders, this is a structural role within the team that requires full integration into the organization.
What you will do.
- Collaborate with parent(s), student, and school to prevent school absenteeism and early school leaving
- Ensure that absenteeism is as short as possible
- Enforce and implement the Compulsory Education Act
- Handle reports regarding absenteeism, exemptions, and leave, and conduct guidance interviews
- Identify bottlenecks and refer to assistance where necessary
- Guide and monitor young people (16 to 27 years old) who are at risk of dropping out or do not have a diploma
- Work from the "School to Sustainable Work Act" and support young people in their development towards a sustainable place in society
- Engage in discussions with young people about their educational prospects and motivate them to return to school or work, or to other forms such as day activities or voluntary work
- Actively communicate with young people who are unlawfully absent and point out the consequences of early school leaving
- Identify risks such as unemployment, debts, care problems, social exclusion, or crime and guide them to appropriate support
- Coordinate internally where necessary, such as with the Work or Youth team
- Work closely and coordinate as necessary with educational institutions, employers, care and safety partners
- Record progress in a student tracking system
