Works director supervisor road projects

You will work as a supervisor on the adaptation of roads and waterways. You will be an active member of the construction teams and project teams set up for this purpose. A government organization works on infrastructural projects in teams with project leaders for study, preparation, and realization, supplemented by specialists. Execution takes place via construction teams, in which collaboration occurs with selected contractors. The focus is on budget, time, quality, and support in the project environment.

The project teams primarily work on larger investment projects, requiring support for supervision of execution and environmental aspects.

What You Will Do. Your work mainly consists of preparing environmental matters, directing the work, and supervising the execution.

  • Preparation of environmental matters, such as work planning, traffic measures, and communication with residents, businesses, emergency services, and public transport.
  • Daily consultation with the contractor, the environment, and other stakeholders during execution.
  • Directing the work and supervising the quality of the work delivered by the contractor.
  • Following the planning, assessing additional and reduced work, and weekly statements.
  • Supporting the project leader with consultations with the contractor and third parties, and the delivery.
  • Paying attention to interests, points of concern, and sensitivities in the environment, and discussing these with the project leader.

In summary, your activities include:

  • Directing the work.
  • Supervising the execution and safety of the work.
  • Addressing the contractor regarding the execution and primarily the quality of the work.
  • Preparing specifications and the realization of the work with an eye for the environment (closures, diversion routes, etc.).
  • Communication with local residents and other stakeholders about nuisance caused by the work.
  • Participating in construction teams and project teams from the preparation phase, and in execution consultations with the contractor.

Profile

We are looking for a proactive and communicatively strong colleague who maintains an overview in (complex) construction and reconstruction projects. You have experience with directing and supervising infrastructural works, preferably in construction teams and large reconstructions. You have an eye for interests and sensitivities in the environment and know how to effectively switch between different stakeholders.

With a results-oriented attitude and a team-oriented approach, you contribute to the successful realization of road and waterway renewals. You are firm in your role and maintain an overview of planning, quality, and stakeholders. You feel responsible for the work, while also being able to keep business and private matters separate and being flexible in working hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends.

What they ask

  • Completed education at a minimum of MBO level, preferably in civil engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrable work experience in the GWW (Ground, Road, and Water Construction) sector.
  • Demonstrable experience with the supervision of asphalt works, based on completed projects.
  • Experience with the preparation of road works, such as organizing diversion routes, closures, and communication about this with the environment.
  • Experience working in construction teams and assessing additional and reduced work from contractors.
  • Good command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written.
  • In possession of a B driving license.
  • Willingness to perform some work during evening, night, and weekend hours.
