An academic institution is seeking temporary reinforcement for its library learning center. This center offers a combination of physical and online collections, tailored to current education and research, and is equipped with various facilities for students and researchers, such as quiet study zones, group work rooms, and meeting areas.
What you will do. As an advisor, you ensure professional reception, information, and service delivery:
- You provide first-line information to users regarding collections (physical and electronic), infrastructure, and the library catalog (face-to-face, by phone, or by email).
- You maintain broad knowledge of collections (for both Economics and Business Sciences, and Arts; print and e-collections, specialized databases), basic IT knowledge, and knowledge of reprography, to resolve first-line user questions or refer them correctly.
- You are co-responsible for the check-in and check-out of items, following up on reminders, creating library cards, and processing requests (making scans and sending books to other libraries, etc.).
- You monitor order, cleanliness, and organization in the public areas of the library learning center, including adherence to house rules and shelving collections.
- You are co-responsible for the training and guidance of student workers.
- You assist with general guided tours.
- You contribute to optimizing service delivery.
Profile
- You hold a bachelor's degree or have equivalent experience. Work experience in a scientific library (especially a front-office position) is a recommendation.
- You are customer-friendly, enterprising, stress-resistant, and flexible.
- You have a sense of order, organization, innovation, and quality.
- You possess excellent oral and written communication skills in Dutch and English.
- You possess excellent digital skills.
- You are willing to continuously train yourself.
