Social Housing Support Worker
West FlandersHybrid40 hours/week<3months
As a housing coach, you support clients in a trajectory of uncertain housing and homelessness, partly for homelessness prevention and partly from the night shelter. You work from the client's perspective, taking into account every domain of life, and are creative in establishing contact. Coaching is offered in a caring, empathetic, and respectful manner.
What you will do.
- Primarily employed as a housing coach in the context of eviction prevention (0.78 FTE).
- Collaborate with a housing association for referred tenants with problems (nuisance, pollution).
- Proactively, persistently, and creatively seek contact with clients.
- Guide approximately 14 clients, where each situation is unique and a guidance agreement is developed.
- Motivate clients to seek additional help and provide support for its initiation.
- Seek help within the client's own network.
- Search for meaningful daytime activities.
- Provide practical support to teach clients skills for proper home maintenance.
- Offer a listening ear and be present.
- Mediate in case of conflicts.
- Take on a role within the night shelter as a supervisor (0.28 FTE).
- Realize daily shelter according to the bed-bath-bread formula.
- Be responsible for the practical and logistical aspects of keeping the shelter open.
- Receive guests, offer a listening ear, and pick up on signals.
- Work in a team with housing coaches, colleagues from the individual assistance and services department (casemanager, street work colleagues, administration), and other aid organizations.

- Find a challenge in seeking out, meeting, and motivating people to enter an assistance trajectory.
- Possess a healthy dose of professional curiosity.
What they ask
- Bachelor's degree or 2 years of relevant professional experience.
- Have a good grasp of the necessary interview and assistance methodologies.
- Solid knowledge of the social map.
- Knowledge of common IT applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Possess a B driving license (or be willing to obtain one).
Preferences.
- A bachelor's degree in social-agogic work (social assistant) or social healthcare is an asset.
