Supervisor
As a supervisor, you ensure that residents with a mild to moderate intellectual disability feel safe and confident to make their own choices and realize their dreams. This is a residential initiative founded by parents of young people with a mild intellectual disability, where care is purchased from a specialized organization. The mission is to create a warm place where residents feel at home and contribute to household tasks, together with care managers, volunteers, neighbors, and parents.
The residents, aged 22 to 35, live in an apartment complex with their own apartments and common areas for meetings and activities. The team consists of 14 diverse and open employees who motivate each other and give and receive feedback.
What you do
Collaboration between residents, the team, and parents is central. The residents, with a mild to moderate intellectual disability, are supported day and night. You will work irregular hours and perform sleep shifts. You guide the residents according to the principles:
- What you can do yourself, you do yourself
- What you can learn, you will learn
- For what you cannot do, you will naturally receive support
Residents largely perform daily living activities themselves. You primarily provide instructions and help if necessary. You support residents in contributing to society, such as grocery shopping, maintaining social contacts, working, and participating in activities. You contribute to the most valuable life possible for each resident, in collaboration with parents, relatives, and colleagues.
What they ask
- A completed care-related education at a minimum of MBO level 3.
- Affinity with the target group of people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities (LVB and MVB).
- The ability to reflect on one's own thoughts and actions.
- Openness to the opinions of others and sharing feelings.
- Willingness to work irregular shifts, including sleep shifts, weekend shifts, and shifts on holidays.
- Awareness of the system surrounding the client, given the close collaboration with parents, the network, and colleagues.
- Empathy and integrity.
